A traffic study listed three Tampa Bay area roads as the deadliest in the state. The study looked at fatal crashes between the 2013-2015.
- Cortez Road near 30th St. in Bradenton
- 9 fatal crashes, 10 deaths
- 66th St. in Largo
- 10 fatal crashes, 12 deaths
- 34th St. N. in St. Petersburg
- 9 fatal crashes, 10 deaths
ABC Action News spoke to drivers who drive those streets daily. Chuck Mattingly said he calls police at least once a week when he sees a crash in front of his business on Cortez Road.
“We hear the noise and we’ll go out there to see if anyone is hurt and then we will call for help,” said Mattingly.
He said it appears most people aren’t paying attention when they get into a car accident.
“They are usually just texting and not paying attention,” said Mattingly.
