MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. — Some neighbors on Prospect Rd. in Manatee County are upset about a new neighbor. Manatee County crews are installing a new 911 radio tower on county owned land near subdivisions and a school.

“This is right in the middle of everything: residences, schools and 85 feet from my property,” said neighbor Gary Adams.

Adams said the county told citizens about a month ago about the construction of the new 180 ft. tower.

“I'm upset they are putting up this huge tower with no input from our citizens, it’s going to impact our health and property values,” said Adams.

County leaders said the project has been in the works for more than a year.  They said it was approved by county commissioners and the tower is being constructed in accordance with local and state laws.

"I’m sure they had meetings with engineers and designers, never was there a public meeting,” said Adams.

Residents plan to hold their own public meeting on Wednesday evening to stop the construction of the tower.
