A mail carrier had her hand slammed by a mousetrap inside a mailbox that a homeowner had planted in order to catch someone stealing his mail.

The man said he set the trap to catch a mail thief, and that he planned to tell the mail carrier, but she came at a different route and time.

The woman complained of pain and throbbing in the hand, but nothing was visible when authorities arrived. She said her hand had just recently healed from being broken.

He had put the trap back in his home before law enforcement showed up.
