Manatee County detectives arrested 53-year-old Richard Botek Tuesday morning on charges of sexual battery, false imprisonment and battery in connection with several assaults on a 26-year-old woman.

The victim had just returned home Saturday afternoon when she went into her room. Botek, whom she was renting the room from, came in uninvited and picked her up. Botek made sexual advances on her and later released her saying that this was his house and it would happen again. The victim was too afraid to notify police in fear of retaliation from the suspect.

Later that day, while the victim was ready to go to sleep, Botek entered her room and began making sexual advances once again. This time, the victim was able to grab her phone to record the assault. Again, the victim feared calling the police.

On Monday, when the victim returned home, Botek became infuriated and threw a plate at her. After he slapped the victim, she called police.

She was scared to talk to police at first because he was present. She eventually told detectives of the crimes when she was away from him.

Detectives took the victim to the sheriff's office where they interviewed her. During the interview, Botek called her phone. While the phone was on speaker he admitted to the previous crimes. He also demanded she return home and threatened to flatten her tires.
