A machete-wielding man was arrested outside a Bradenton night club Sunday after deputies say he threatened a security guard and smashed a glass door.

It happened at the Nahesha Night Club in Manatee County. The suspect, Juan Gomez, was inside the building when deputies say a fight broke out.

Several people were escorted out of the club including Gomez.

A verbal altercation allegedly erupted in the parking lot, and the night club's security tried to disburse the crowd.

One man went to a vehicle and got a machete, which Gomez allegedly took from him. Officials say he then approached a security guard with it, and rose the machete towards him just five feet away from him.

The security guard feared for his life, so he went into the club and shut the door behind him.

He said Gomez was standing right behind the door and raised the machete above his head before striking the glass door and sending shards of glass flying through the air.

The security guard reported that Gomez told him "come outside and I'm going to {sic} kill you."

Gomez then walked back to his car and tried to leave the scene. That's when deputies arrived and arrested him, with the machete in plain view in the back seat.

He was arrested on a felony criminal mischief charge. The club owner estimates it will be about $1,400 to replace the damaged door.
