BRADENTON, Fla. -- Caden McClusky has an amazing story to tell. The 7-year-old was riding with his dad to school earlier this month. His dad had a medical emergency during the ride.
"The car kept going faster and faster and I heard my dad choking and I looked over and his eyes were closed and I tried to wake him up,” said McClusky.
Caden took off his seatbelt to help his dad, but just as he did that the car hit another car. The impact sent Caden into the windshield.
“I woke up and I was on the sidewalk,” said McClusky.
Caden spent a few days in the hospital, but fortunately he is expected to recovery from his injuries. His mom, Katie Dean, said she feels so fortunate. She thanked the paramedics who saved her son.
“It’s been tough, I look at him and I’m so thankful,” said Dean.
The Manatee County paramedics who helped save Caden said it was nice to see his recovery.
“One of the difficulties is we never see the recovery, we think we did everything we could to save the patient so how are they are doing whats their prognosis,” said Chief Jason Evans.
Caden is making a recovery and plans to head back to school.
