The Manatee County Sheriff’s Department arrested a daycare owner on Wednesday night for allegedly molesting an 8-year-old girl.
Melvin Norris, 60, was arrested and charged with Lewd and Lascivious Molestation.
Norris and his spouse own and operate Lisa's Daycare out of their home. Deputies are checking to see if there are anymore victims.
"In any situation like this there is always a chance for more victims," said spokesperson Dave Bristow.
A police report states that Norris had been allegedly molesting the child over the last three years at his home.
An investigation on Norris began on Wednesday and he was arrested later that evening. Norris immediately requested an attorney therefore no interview was conducted.
Norris will face a judge at 1 p.m. on Friday in Manatee County.
