A 2-year-old boy had to be transported to the hospital after falling from an apartment window.

The mother of the child was cleaning her second floor apartment at Royal Palm Terrace Apartments located at 26th St. E in Bradenton with windows open to air the residence out.

According to the Manatee County Sheriff's office, she heard her 4-year-old son tell her 2-year-old son to not go out the window.

The mother then ran to the window but the 2-year-old wasn’t there. She then ran downstairs and discovered her son on the ground.

The toddler was responsive and appeared okay, but was transported to the hospital for examination.  The distance of the fall was approximately 15 feet.

At this point, they believe it was an accident, but deputies continue to investigate.

"If you're cleaning and the windows are up...'cause little children they're curious you know...that'd be the first thing they would do if they see the window is up. (They'll) try to go out there," neighbor Susie Evans said.

Another neighbor reacted to the incident. She wanted to remain anonymous.

"We hope everything (will) be okay with him and stuff. (I) really don't know what happened, but accidents happen," she said.
