The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office and the Gold Star Club of Manatee County is offering up to a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person or persons responsible for the death of 16-year old Amber Woods.

Detectives say she was murdered and they continue to follow leads. Her body was discovered on Feb. 11, 2006 about 20 feet off the south side of SR 62 about three miles west of the Hardee County line.

An autopsy confirmed Amber died from a gunshot wound. She was last seen alive by her Aunt at their residence at 3103 St. Rd. 62 in Hardee Count on Feb. 11. Detectives believe Amber may have left the house on her own early Saturday morning as there is no evidence that she was forcibly taken from the residence.

No arrests have been made and at this time the motive for the shooting is unclear.
