Polk County families will be celebrating the holidays without a Christmas tree after they say they were duped into buying a dead tree.
A handful of tree-buyers have posted photos and video showing their pine tree needles falling off, and green paint all over their hands after moving their tree into the house.
But when the customers went to complain, the tree farm had mysteriously vanished.
The suspicious tree farm used to be set up on Recker Highway in Winter Haven, next to Sonny's BBQ.
Other customers say they have shopped at the same tree farm for years, but the last few years the trees have been disastrous.
Not only were families out a Christmas tree this year, but lost $80 they paid to buy to the dead tree.
