Polk County commissioners have approved a new light for an intersection where a 17-year-old was fatally struck by a vehicle.
Kalen Kirk, a George Jenkins High School student, was struck trying to reach his bus stop.
Polk County officials are looking into other improvements on Clubhouse Road, which Kirk was crossing trying to reach the bus stop on Andros Boulevard.
Parents said they’re pleased with the decision Tuesday but more improvements are needed.
