Polk County Fire Rescue is investigating a fire that damaged a Lakeland business early Monday morning.

Just after 12:30 a.m., firefighters responded to reports of a fire at Precision Wallboard, located at 3066 Winter Lake Road. Crews found heavy smoke coming from the building.

Due to the size of the building, firefighters quickly called for a second alarm and requested assistance from Lakeland.

The building appears to be a total loss with a warehouse, offices and boat located inside destroyed.

Firefighters report the fire appears to have started in the upper portion of the building and made its way down.
