Residents in Polk County can receive a free flu shot from the Florida Department of Health this weekend.
The free flu shots will be available this Saturday, October 27th from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Farmers Market in downtown Lakeland (200 N Kentucky Avenue).
"The flu shot is safe and effective and remains a person's best defense against getting the flu," says Dr. Joy Jackson, director of DOH-Polk. "I encourage all residents to take this simple step to help protect their health and the health of their friends and family."
Those who prioritize getting the flu shot early helps decrease their risk of getting the flu. The flu shot is recommended for all Floridians 6 months of age and older on a yearly basis, according to the Florida Department of Health.
