POLK COUNTY, Fla. — Florida Highway Patrol troopers are investigating after a vehicle was shot at along I-4 on Saturday.

Officials said around 1:15 p.m., troopers responded to a highway shooting incident that happened along I-4 near mile marker 36.

The victim said that as he was traveling on I-4, he saw a newer model red Ford Mustang driving recklessly, speeding and passing other vehicles using emergency shoulders.

As the Mustang pulled alongside the victim's vehicle, he heard a thump along the driver's side, officials said.

The Mustang then continued on I-4 as the victim reported a possible partial Florida tag, "LEI" or "LE1."

The victim believed at first, something was thrown at his vehicle.

The victim was unable to provide a suspect description to troopers who later found one pistol round from the vehicle.
