Deputies are searching for a woman, who they said maliciously damaged a stranger's car.
The crime happened in early April outside of a shopping plaza located off Highway 192. The Perez family parked in the shopping plaza because they were going to La Nueva Isla Supermarket.
Niscrilis Perez said he accidentally tapped the side view mirror of another car as he got out of his car. He said he saw people in the other car. He said they didn't say anything nor did they lower the window or get out to question him. He went into the store for about 30 minutes. That's when he believes the suspect took a key and damaged his car.
ABC Action News interviewed Niscrilis Perez, who is a Spanish speaker, and translated what he said about the incident. He told us there was no need for someone to do something like that to get back at another person who may have done something wrong. Authorities released two surveillance pictures of the woman they said damaged Niscrilis Perez's car. Niscrilis Perez said he can't afford to repair his car right now. He said he purchased it in 2016.
If anyone has any information, they need to call the Polk County Sheriff's Office.
