UPDATE | As of 1:24 p.m., the overturned semi sand-hauler was towed from the scene and all lanes of US Hwy 27 southbound are now open to traffic.

A truck hauling sand overturned Wednesday morning while traveling southbound on US Hwy 27 at Dunson Road in Davenport.

The truck was crossing through the intersection while the light was green. At the same time, a car made a right turn at the red light at Waverly Barn Road onto US 27 southbound.

The dump truck driver swerved into the left lane to try to avoid striking the car. The large shift in load weight caused the truck to fall onto its side.

The truck hit the car, however there were no reported injuries or significant damages.

Webb's Towing is on the scene removing the truck and the department of transportation is assisting with one southbound lane closure.
