Bartow man charged with first-degree murder in connection to Mulberry woman's death

MULBERRY, Fla. — A Bartow man has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder in connection to a Mulberry woman's death. 

On March 22, 2018, the body of Tammy Butler, 58, was discovered in her home on NW 1st Avenue in Bartow during a wellness check. Butler's friends had contacted the sheriff's office for help after not hearing from her for several days.

Five days after Tammy's body was found, her death was ruled a homicide by Polk County investigators. Investigators asked for the public's help in finding out what happened to her between March 17 and March 22. 

Sheriff Grady Judd will release more information on the arrest at a 10:30 a.m. news conference in Winter Haven.
