LAKE WALES, Fla. — A man is dead after a deputy-involved shooting in Lake Wales.

Deputies responded to a home on Cottage Hill Road in Lake Wales in Saturday at around 8 a.m. for a domestic disturbance.  Shannon Jason Cables, 46, was threatening his wife and teenage daughter with a large diaper pin, a pool cue and mace spray.

Cable’s wife and daughter fled the home to a neighbor’s house and called law enforcement.

Before deputies arrived  at the home, Cable’s had already left the home and fled into the wooded area surrounding the home.  PCSO K-9 teams tracked the suspect in the woods for two hours and did not find him.

The wife and daughter went to the hospital with deputies and they arrived back at the home with a deputy escort around 2:15 p.m.

While both victims and four deputies/detectives were inside the home, one of the victims saw Cable through the widow approaching the home with an AR-15 and a shotgun.

One of the detectives exited the home and told Cable to drop the weapons.  Cable pointed the AR-15 at the detective and deputies fired on the suspect and Cable shot back.

Cable was transported to the Lake Wales Regional Hospital and was later declared deceased.
