LAKE HAMILTON, Fla. —The Polk County Sheriff's Office and Lake Hamilton Police Department are investigating a double fatal crash in Lake Hamilton.

The two-vehicle crash took place at Kokomo Road and U.S. 27 around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday night.

According to a release, Isaac Neal of Cumming, 40, was driving a 2004 Dodge Durango when a 2008 Mazda four-door car driven by Juan Ayala of Winter Haven, 20, struck the left rear portion of his vehicle as they traveled northbound on U.S. 27. The impact caused Neal's SUV to slide off the shoulder, flip and land in a ditch.

Cobra Frost of Winter Park, 31, and Wyatt Singleton of Orlando, 61, were ejected from the rear passenger seat of the SUV.  Police say neither of them were wearing a seatbelt and both died on-scene.

Deputies say Ayala stopped in the median of U.S. 27 after the collision.

The investigation into what caused the crash is still ongoing.

The roadways in the area were closed for approximately 5 hours during the initial investigation.
