Video: Duke Energy linemen hang from helicopters to replace wires in Pinellas County

PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. — It's definitely not something you see every day but Duke Energy linemen are using helicopters to do their jobs in Pinellas County.

After receiving pictures and video, we reached out to Duke Energy to see exactly what they were doing.

We're told they were replacing overhead fiber-optic ground wire.

Duke Energy said they are going to be replacing 2.2 miles worth of wire on 15 structures from 94th Street North and Bay Pines Boulevard to Tyrone Boulevard. Work began early this week and will continue into next week.

The helicopter assists the crews with installation and existing right of way. You can expect to see this from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
