PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. -- A 21-year-old man died at the hospital after a tree he was cutting fell on his head in Pinellas County Tuesday afternoon.
The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office responded to a call of a tree hitting a man in the head in the 1400 block of Wetherton Way in Dunedin. Upon arrival, Palm Harbor Fire Rescue told deputies on scene that the worker, identified as Jacob Schrader, was taken to Mease Dunedin Hospital for serious injuries.
Following investigations, deputies learned that the company, Tree Impressions of Florida, was hired by the homeowners in the area to remove a tree from their yard.
Witnessed told deputies that the tree fell and hit Schrader in the head. Schrader was pronounced dead at the hospital a little before 4 p.m., according to deputies.
Deputies say Schrader's death appears accidental in nature. The homeowners were not at the house at the time of the incident. OSHA was notified of the death investigation.
