PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. -- Big changes are coming for bars and restaurants serving alcohol in Treasure Island.
City leaders unanimously approved a new ordinance that would extend liquor sales for Treasure Island businesses from 2 a.m. to 3 a.m. Tuesday night.
CJ's Bar on the Island is one of the businesses that will stay open an hour later.
"There are plenty of options for sure," said Josh Leo, owner of CJ's on the Island. "Pretty much in any direction within a few miles."
Leo says it's not only good for the business' bottom line, he believes it is better for the customer's safety.
"For the economy, I think it's beneficial," Leo said.
Not all bars ABC Action News spoke with will stay open later, even with the new rules. Ricky T's on Gulf Boulevard said they will still close at 2 a.m.
