High school student about to board school bus hit by car, driver arrested

CLEARWATER, Fla. — Clearwater Police officers arrested the 18-year-old driver of a silver Honda Civic after they hit a high school student early Wednesday morning at North Betty Lane and Sedeeva Street.

Police say the 17-year-old student was about to board a bus to Dunedin High School before 7 a.m. when the Civic struck her. The driver, Domenek Bryant, then left the scene, police say.

The teenager was treated by Clearwater Fire Rescue medics at the scene. She was taken to the hospital by family memebers and treated for lower leg injuries, police say.

Bryant was arrested Wednesday afternoon and charged with leaving the scene of a crash involving injuries.
