6AM UPDATE | ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- A 19-year-old man shot Friday night in south St. Petersburg has died of his injuries, authorities said.

Me'Arri M. Melton of St. Petersburg has been identified as the person shot in the 4800 block of 20th Avenue shortly before 8:30 p.m. Friday, according to the St. Petersburg Police Department.

ORIGINAL STORY | ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- A teenager is at the hospital fighting for his life after being shot in St. Petersburg Friday night.

St. Pete Police responded to a call of a shooting a little before 8:30 p.m. A 19-year-old man was shot somewhere in the 4800 block of 20th Ave South, according to St. Pete Police.

The man is in critical condition, according to St. Pete. Officials did not say if a suspect has been identified in the incident.
