Tarpon Springs has announced they will once again host their annual Oktoberfest celebration October 7th, 8th and 9th.

Headed into its fourth year, Tarpon Springs Oktoberfest has quickly become one of the area’s biggest and most authentic Oktoberfest celebrations.

The 2015 celebration attracted over 5000 visitors and this year’s celebration looks to easily top that number.

This year there the celebration will add amusement rides for children, wiener dog races, and a Greek Festival Tent and Italian Food Areas. Live music, games, celebrity toastmasters, arts and crafts, food, beverage and much more will fill the historic cobblestoned streets of downtown Tarpon Springs.

The festivities start on October 7th at 10 a.m. with an Arts & Crafts Show and Food and Beverage Tents opening.  Wiener Dog Demonstration Races and Balloon Wiener Dog Races start at 7 p.m.  Then Tampa Bay’s favorite band, The Black Honkeys, perform from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

The party continues all weekend with authentic German music, food and beer and more Arts & Crafts.  Saturday evening the always popular Running of Wiener Dogs (aka Dachshunds) will take place at 6 p.m.

On Sunday morning at 10 p.m. join yoga instructors under the big tent for Yoga & Beer.  Best Costume, Best Beard, Stein Hoisting contests and dancing will add to the fun.

The festival will take place in downtown Tarpon Springs on Orange Street between Safford Avenue (Pinellas Bike Trail) and Alternate 19 and on Safford and Hibiscus Streets. Admission is free the entire weekend.

The event is sponsored in part by the Tarpon Springs Merchants Association and Paulaner Brewery.
