ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Police in St. Pete are investigating an accidental shooting that took the life of a 17-year-old girl.

Officers say Destiny Loper, 17, was shot when a gun accidentally fired inside the vehicle she was in. Police took Jessica Perry, 21, in custody and charged her with manslaughter. She has since been released on bond.

Loper was driven to the police department where an officer was flagged down, but she later died of her injures.

No other information was immediately available.
