St. Petersburg dad arrested for carrying gun on school campus, police say

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — A St. Petersburg dad was arrested for carrying a gun on a school campus on Thursday.

While waiting to pick up his child outside of Perkins Elementary School, Joshua Lorenzo, 37, caught the attention of the school safety officer.

According to the St. Petersburg Police Department, the safety officer noticed Lorenzo was carrying a weapon under his clothing and called police.

After arriving to the school, officers confirmed Lorenzo had a handgun under his shirt.

Lorenzo was arrested for having the weapon on school grounds and booked into the Pinellas County Jail.

Police did not state whether the gun belonged to Lorenzo or if it was loaded.
