ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- The city of St. Petersburg is releasing a cookbook that features recipes from popular eateries in the area.

The "St. Pete Eats" cookbook will have food and drink recipes from local staples like La V, Trophy Fish, The Library, Dr. BBQ, Noble Crust and Dr. Tomalin's own home kitchen.

"We're so fortunate to live in a city that overflows with flavor and epicurean experiences. It's my mission as St. Pete's Deputy Mayor and City Administrator to infuse those flavors with delicious, healthy options, through Healthy St. Pete," said Dr. Kanika Tomalin in a press release.

Dr. Tomalin, the city's deputy mayor and administrator, said some of her favorite recipes will be included in the cookbook.

Proceeds from the cookbook will support local COVID-19 relief programs, according to the city of St. Pete.

"We can change health outcomes when we work together," said Mayor Rick Kriseman in a press release. "That is why I am excited about this cookbook. It is a vibrant illustration that great food and great health can coexist, especially in St. Petersburg."

St. Pete Eats will be released on Friday, July 17 and can be purchased at http://stpeteeats.org for $20, plus shipping and handling. You can also find limited quantities at participating businesses. More information on the brick-and-mortar sales can be found on St. Pete Eats' website.

Proceeds from cookbooks purchased from the website will go towards the city's Fighting Chance Fund, which gives grants to locally-owned and independently-operated small businesses that have been impacted by the pandemic. Proceeds from cookbooks purchased at participating local businesses will go directly to the local business.
