Bullets hit the southern building, an air conditioning unit and several water heaters inside the complex.

Byron estimates more than two dozen shots were fired, but authorities could not say pending an open investigation. She said it was two groups of people shooting at each other with appeared to be "big guns."

It was a long Memorial Day for people who live at the complex. The water was shut off after the water heaters were hit. They were running by the afternoon, but the a/c unit with children inside was still not working by the evening.

Neighbors showed ABC Action News where another bullet went through a window, but no one was hurt.

A spokesperson for the department said officers went door to door to check on citizens, but did not find anyone with injuries.

Police did not say if they have any suspects.
