ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — A local marching band will perform in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

The Second Time Arounders has about 440 band members. All of the members played an instrument in high school or college.

"They have played or marched or twirled a flag in high school and want to do it again," said Bill Findeison, Director of the Second Time Arounders.

The march banding performed at the parade in 2008 so they applied again and were invited back.

"We leave on Monday and we’ll be gone for a week. It will be a lot of fun," added Findeison.

Jason Yarbrough joined the marching band 2 years ago. He played drums in high school and in college at Florida State University.

"My favorite time just being in the stands playing the music," said Yarbrough.

"I'm thrilled to be going. We didn't get an opportunity to go when I was in high school or in college," he added.

Stephanie Lafleur first saw the Second Time Arounders on television at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in 2008. She joined the band shortly after.

"The announcer said, "All the way from St. Petersburg, Florida is the Awesome Original Second Time Arounders Marching Band." I couldn't believe it. I live here and I had no idea the marching band was here," said Lafleur.

Findeison said the marching band first formed in 1982.

"If you ever played in high school or college in the band, you remember that...you do remember the band rides and the trips and playing in the band, the football games," said Findeison.
