TAMPA, Fla. — There is still thousands of dollars up for grabs for students who are bullied in Florida schools.

Step Up for Students is a St. Petersburg non-profit organization that distributes funds for the Hope Scholarship.

The group tells us more than 300 students took advantage of the program during the scholarship's first year in 2018.

Bullied Florida students eligible for scholarships starting October

"We're just trying to inform parents that after an incident of bullying they can get the scholarship to attend a private school or transfer to any public school that has open seats," says Patrick Gibbons with Step Up for Students.

The program is funded through a sales tax when you buy a car.
