A 10-year-old boy called 911 on Tuesday night after he says his dad was asleep in a car in a parking lot in Safety Harbor and he couldn't wake him up.
The boy told deputies he didn't know where they were and that he was scared. He also began walking around the parking lot looking for an adult to help.
The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office says Jon Mark Pogorzelski, 39, was found asleep inside the vehicle when they arrived on scene and he appeared to be under the influence of an unknown controlled substance.
Deputies recovered a prescription bottle for a different prescription in the suspect's front right pocket and in two multicolored containers located in the center console of the vehicle.
Pogorzelski was arrested and booked on Tuesday, October 25 and he remains in jail with a $9,000 bond.
He faces the following charges:
- Possession of alprazolam
- Neglect of a child
- Possession of morphine
