A St. Petersburg woman who was kidnapped, beaten and raped by an acquaintance over the weekend is recovering at the hospital, police say.
Ronald Walton, 52, of 3485 Sixth Ave. N. in St. Petersburg is charged with aggravated battery, sexual battery and kidnapping.
According to an arrest affidavit, the woman tried leaving her residence when Walton choked her, held her down and refused to let her leave.
Police say he then punched her, fracturing her jaw on both sides and knocking out a tooth.
Walton then dragged the woman into a bedroom and raped her, police say.
The woman required immediate surgery at an area hospital. Her jaw is now wired shut.
Police will only say Walton and the woman are acquaintances. The woman positively identified Walton as her attacker, police added.
Police report Walton admitted to raping the woman. He is being held on $320,000 bond.
Walton's criminal record shows convictions for armed burglary, battery, providing a false name to law enforcement, criminal mischief and felon in possession of a firearm. He has served time in state prison.
