A 4-year-old boy fired a gun Sunday evening that police say he found in a crawl space under his home.
The child was playing outside with a cat when it ran under the house at 1742 Yale St. in St. Petersburg, according to police. The boy found the gun, a revolver, after following the cat under the house.
According to police, the boy took the weapon to the front porch and fired one round. No one was injured.
The boy’s grandmother and mother called the police. Neither of them owned the weapon.
Someone may have discarded or hid the unregistered revolver, which had multiple rounds, under the home, police said.
