Manatee County Deputies are investigating a drowning involving a 3-year-old child.
According to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office, Luci Gutierrez and Chris Morgan were home with four children on Friday afternoon.
Gutierrez was watching the children, including 3-year-old Jayden Morgan-Gutierrez, play in the living room when she decided to take the two youngest into another room in order to put them down for a nap, leaving Jayden and the other child in the living room.
When Gutierrez returned to the living room a few minutes later, Jayden was no longer in the room.
Gutierrez stepped outside into the pool area and found Jayden in the pool.
Officials said Jayden was removed from the pool and was unresponsive.
EMS responded and took him to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
Morgan is said to have been in a separate room of the residence at the time of the incident.
The incident is under investigation.
