Pinellas Park Police launch new website to increase transparency

Pinellas Park Police Department is rolling out a new website they say will increase transparency.

Citizen Connect allows citizens to look up information on their own while giving the police department data insights to help them be more effective and efficient with resources.

From the Citizens Connect portal, the public will get a map view of their community that they can navigate around and zoom in and out of for more detail.

You can input a data range, and then with one click on the "incident" button, the software will plot on the map all incidents that happened within the date range.

You can access down the to block level where the incident occurred, when and details about it.

You can narrow the search and set an alert to get an email showing all incidents within a range you want to see.

The tool also lets police quickly push information out to citizens.

The portal will keep citizens aware of a spike in incidents like burglaries so they can keep an eye out for suspicious activity and, in turn, assist police by reporting it.
