PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. — Parts of one intersection were closed in Pinellas County after an accident involving a sheriff's deputy, according to the sheriff's office.
Authorities say an on-duty deputy was in the left turn lane on northbound 49th Street in his marked PSCO Chevrolet Tahoe when the accident happened. They say a driver going southbound on 49th Street failed to see the deputy and made an eastbound turn into his path.
The deputy's vehicle struck the front corner on the passenger's side of the other vehicle, leading the vehicle to overturn on the driver's side. The deputy and the driver of the other vehicle were taken to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
The other driver was cited for failure to yield, according to the sheriff's office.
