Seminole homeowner shot during break in

UPDATE 5:55 p.m.--

Deputies report now that Ott mistakenly told deputies he had accidentally shot himself.  Detectives have now determined that Ott was in fact shot by the suspect.

He was taken to Bayfront Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

The male suspect description is still unknown at this time.

UPDATE | 2:45 p.m.--

Deputies responded to a report of an unknown male who broke into the back door of the residence.  The home owner, 66-year-old Karl Ott was asleep when he heard the noise. 

He grabbed his handgun, and in the midst of the altercation accidentally shot himself in the forearm.

The suspect got away, and deputies are not sure if he got away on foot or a car.

Original Story | The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office is responding to a shooting in Seminole. 

Deputies confirm with ABC Action News that a man was shot on around 12:20 p.m. in the 5700 block of Williams Blvd. on Friday.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting are unknown.

ABC Action News is at the scene gathering information.

 

 

Officials say it is unknown if there were any injuries.
