An off duty Hillsborough Sheriff’s deputy saved a 3-year-old from drowning at a water park in Indian Rocks Beach. It happened at around 4:45 p.m. on Saturday at the Splash Harbor Water Park in Indian Rocks Beach.

According to deputies, the child was found floating motionless underwater in the lazy river. Habib Hanze, an off duty detention deputy for the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, heard the cries for help from a witness and helped pull the 3-year-old out of the pool. Hanze immediately started CPR on the child and was able to revive the child.

The Child was transported to all Children’s hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The parents told deputies that the child’s mother lost sight of the child for 6 or 7 minutes. The mother thought that the 3-year-old was being watched by another family member.
