CLEARWATER, Fla. — A man in Clearwater became unresponsive and later died after acting violent and erratic on Monday night, police say.

Clearwater Police say they were called to the McDonald's on South Missouri Avenue after 6 p.m. because of a disturbance.

An employee was restraining a man described as being violent and possibly under the influence of an unknown substance. Police say employees told them the man tried to jump over and push his way behind the front counter.

When officers arrived, they secured the man. They say EMS also responded because of the man's erratic behavior.

While the EMS was evaluating the man, police say he became unresponsive. He was taken to Morton Plant Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The police department identified the man as Tyrone Martin, 52. An autopsy was preformed and the results are pending based on toxicology results.
