PINELLAS PARK, Fla. — A woman is facing charges after police say she shot her boyfriend on the front porch of her house, leaving him in critical condition.

Brooke Otto is facing a felony charge of one count of domestic aggravated battery with a deadly weapon after shooting her boyfriend in the lower torso around 9:30 a.m. at a home in the 4200 block of 80th Avenue.

Pinellas Park Police say Otto and her boyfriend have been in an on-and-off-again relationship for the last six months. Otto's boyfriend arrived at her residence Tuesday night and upon waking this morning they got in a verbal argument inside the residence.

Otto was attempting to get her boyfriend to leave the residence, so he went outside to catch an Uber.

During that time, Otto picked up a handgun and followed her boyfriend outside where the argument continued. Otto's boyfriend reportedly slapped her in the face, then Otto shot him in the lower abdomen.

Police say alcohol appears to be a factor in the boyfriend's actions.

Otto's boyfriend has charges pending, but he remains in the hospital in critical condition.
