Deputies assigned to the Major Accident Investigation Team are investigating a crash involving  three vehicles and a motorcycle on Thursday.

According to investigators, 57-year-old Richard Baxter was stopped in traffic on his 2013 Harley Davidson in the eastbound lanes of Park Boulevard at the Starkey Road intersection waiting for the red traffic light. A 2004 Dodge pick-up truck being driven by 49-year-old Richard Rotunno, was traveling eastbound on Park Boulevard approaching the same Starkey Road intersection.

Investigators say that for reasons unknown, Rotunno failed to see traffic stopped at the intersection in front of him and crashed into the rear-end of Baxter's motorcycle. Baxter was ejected and the motorcycle became lodged underneath Rotunno's truck.

The crash caused a chain reaction that damaged a 2001 Ford Ranger and a 2015 Cadillac SUV that was stopped in traffic.

Baxter was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and was transported to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries. Rotunno was transported to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries. No one else was injured as a result of the crash.

Investigators suspect that impairment may have been a factor in the crash.

The investigation is still ongoing.
