ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Brocante Vintage Market in St. Pete is only open one weekend a month.

But this Saturday and Sunday, the popular shop wants Pinellas County school teachers to join the thousands of antiquers, thrifters and more to join the fray.

Brocante has a gift for them — 10,000 pencils.

Ninety-four percent of public school teachers spend their own money to supply classrooms, according to a new report.

So Brocante owners Celesta Carter and husband Sean are hosting “Pencils for Pinellas” which gives 100 free pencils to the first 100 local school teachers who walk through the door and show credentials.

No purchase necessary. Just a desire to make sure their students have the proper tools to succeed.

Shoppers can also donate their own pencils to the cause — and will be rewarded with fun promotional items.

The 15,000-square-foot shop’s address is 2200 2nd Ave S in St. Pete.

Hours are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

“I have friends who are teachers,” says Celesta, “so this is something very close and dear to me.”
