LARGO, Fla, — A man in Largo is facing first-degree murder charges after shooting his roommate of two years on Monday, according to the police department.
Officers say Ryan Avedisian, 38, killed his roommate after becoming "convinced" the victim was planning to kill him.
Avedisian told detectives the night before the shooting, he heard the victim say "I'm gonna kill him." He also told detectives the victim previously tried to poison his food, according to the police department.
The suspect called 911 after 7 a.m. on Monday and reported the shooting. Responding officers say Avedisian was waiting for them.
The victim was found in the kitchen with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is not being released in accordance with Marsy's Law, police say.
According to an arrest report, Avedisian told detectives he stayed up all night and "knew" he had to kill the victim after hearing the victim say he was going to kill him.
The next morning, Avedisian told detectives when he heard his roommate open the fridge he left his bedroom with a gun and shot the victim multiple times.
After the shooting, the report says Avedisian posted "Threat neutralized. 911 en route" on social media.
