SAINT PETERSBURG, Fla. — Eastbound lanes of I-175 in downtown St. Petersburg are closed due to an accident involving a large truck.
According to officials, the large truck traveling on 6th Street South hit the I-175 overpass on Monday morning.
The impacted cause concrete from the overpass to fall.
Florida Department of Transportation is sending experts to check the bridge for structural integrity.
Until it is deemed safe, the eastbound lanes of I-175 are closed at the 6th Street South exit.
Police have also closed 6th Street South in both directions from 5th Avenue South to 4th Avenue South.
