Intoxicated mom arrested after causing crash while two young children were in car: Report

PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. — A mother in Pinellas County is facing child neglect and DUI charges after causing a crash on Friday while her two young children were in the vehicle, according to an arrest report.

Mckaila Aguiar, 24, caused the crash just after 7 p.m. at the intersection of Park Boulevard and Belcher Road in Pinellas Park, the report says.

According to the report, Aguiar provided two breath samples that showed a .199 and .203 BAC after the crash. The legal limit in Florida is 0.08.

Police officers who responded noted that Aguiar showed multiple signs of impairment, including preforming poorly on field sobriety tests.

Aguiar was taken into custody and charged with one count of driving under the influence and two counts of child neglect without great bodily harm.

No injuries were reported from the crash.
