ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — St. Pete leaders are offering thousands in free cash to business owners who want to fix up their property.

The Community Redevelopment Area Grant allows business owners in south St. Pete to apply for a grant up to $20,000. Business owners can use the money to spruce up their property.

Cesar Grajales is one more than 70 business owners who have already received the grant money. He used the money to expand his business, Rubber City.

"I thought it would be good for the business and good for the neighborhood,” said Grajales.

Dorian Speaker is the owner of America’s Most Reliable Movers. He fixed up his company’s office with the money and then he added a produce market outside of the office on 4th Ave South.

"Our change has hopefully inspired our neighbors, if they have the opportunity to take advantage of the program like we did," said Speaker.

Business owners have until February 11 to apply for the grant. There are workshops for business owners who have questions.
