Father killed, son critical after being hit by vehicle in Clearwater

CLEARWATER, Fla. — A father is dead and his son is in critical condition after they were hit by a vehicle early Wednesday morning.

The Clearwater Police Department says the Barry LeBlanc and his 80-year-old father Ernest LeBlanc were crossing Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard at Fernwood Avenue when they were hit by a GMC Suburban driving eastbound.

Police were called after 7 a.m. They say the driver remained on scene and is cooperating with police.

Authorities say the men lived near the intersection.

All eastbound lanes of Gulf-to-Bay were closed for several hours as police investigated the crash.
