Clearwater Police say a man walking near a Clearwater drive-thru attacked a family by stabbing their car window with a knife and punching the back window.
Mark Bodge, 48, of 300 Gunn Avenue, Apt. #7 in Clearwater, is now charged with aggravated assault and criminal mischief.
According to an arrest affidavit, the family was trying to leave the Kentucky Fried Chicken parking lot and turn right on to Gulf to Bay Boulevard.
Bodge was on the sidewalk about to cross in front of the family's vehicle, police say.
The family was blocking the path, so the driver put the car in reverse, in order to give Bodge room to cross the sidewalk, an arrest affidavit states.
The family's car is reportedly manual and when the driver shifted gears to put the car in reverse, the car shifted forward towards Bodge.
Police say Bodge became enraged and started banging on the hood of the victim's car while screaming that the driver was trying to kill him.
According to police, Bodge went up to the driver's side window, pulled out a pocketknife and started stabbing the driver's side window.
He also hit the door and spit on the car, an affidavit explains.
The family told Bodge they were calling police and drove off to a safe location, according to the arrest affidavit.
Police estimate about $200 worth of damage was done to the family's car.
The driver, his wife and two children were in the car during the incident, police say.
