PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. — A Pinellas County woman filed an animal cruelty report with the sheriff's office after she found her seven-month-old cat shot in the face and doused with gasoline.

Jennifer Reule said Cain the cat was outside Thursday night off 46th Avenue North when she found him soaking wet, smelling like gasoline.

"They wanted to kill my cat," she said.

As Reule and her husband went to give Cain a bath, they found a bullet stuck in his face from what appears to be from an air rifle.

"I'm mad, I'm upset," said Reule, "I don’t understand how any person can do this to any animal."

Reule filed a report on Friday with the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, where she said they are investigating this as a case of animal cruelty.

ABC Action News reached out to the sheriff's office and a spokesperson said they have not had any other instances reported in the area.

"I can understand if you did not want them in your yard, but you could go other ways about it," Reule said there are strays in the area, and she has several indoor and outdoor cats as well.
